Default Installing a sub, can you piggy back of stock subs?

I am putting in a JL Audio 8W7 powered by a JL Audio 250/1 in the trunk for a lil' added bass......can I just piggy back off the stock subs....I am probably gonna pull the stock ones out.....or replace them with JL Audio 6W3's......

I tried running the stock subs and also a line level converter to my amp and sub box and it sounded like crap. The additional impedance load on the stock amp caused it to distort prematurely. I ended up doing one or the other(running only the stock amp to my line level converter or running just the stock subs). I even ran the stock amp to my 12" box and it sounded a million times better than the stock subs. That may also be an option for you. I ran the stock amp to my line level converter with a 12" sub box and removed the stock sub enclosure most of the other time. It freed up a little room in the trunk and the openings for airflow/bass to travel through probably didn't help either.

Yeah, I would disconnect the stock subs, wire the amp sub output to a line level converter, and remove them from the deck to allow the bass to pass through.

That is kind of my thought.....I might even try to port the box and make it fire through the old sub holes.....Have to get in there and tear it out to see if it is worth it....

Just want it to hit better than stock and still controll it via the "stock" controls, and with the JL Audio bass knob

Unless you're going to do a 3rd or 4th order bandpass box (which i don't think the w7 is designed for) which combines the front and back wave outputs of the sub into a single port, don't try porting it through the deck. It'll sound like crap, you will only get the backwave into the cabin.

Just let it play in the trunk, and remove the factory sub in the deck to allow it to pass into the cabin. FYI - your deck might rattle, mine does with a single 12", but I haven't taken it apart to see why yet.

I am gonna gut the trunk and dyno mat it all.....and when I mean port holes I mean take it out.....and leave the holes open to pass the air through.....the box will be built to sealed specs.....Just want xtra bass and not rattle the car to death....

I have 2 JL Audio 13.5W6V2's and 2 Alpine Type R's in the closet......
The one lil 10W7 will be more than enough
