Default Instrument cluster interchange

Can I, owning a 2004 Jaguar s-Type upgrade my instrument cluster wit hthat of an 05. i know it will need to be reflashed or something like that.

In concept it should work. 03 and 04 had the same cluster, then 05 added new gauges. This may not be all though. I'll let you in on an experience I had with my former Honda. The 04 had a bad window button, it would work but the plastic switch was bad. I got one from an 05 Accord (supposed to be the same) and the switch itself was totally different, including the connector. It would not work, so I took both apart and made one that worked. My point is, check real carefully that all the connections and plugs are the same. I see clusters listed all the time on E-Bay, maybe check the photos and see if it hooks up the same.

well for the tech the my vin is SAJEA01T04FM95767 and the one i want to purchase says
that ot fits stype ecluding R models;
MPH, last five of Vin 22450

I see a problem already. The first (that matches your car) and the fourth seem to have a different shaped housing and the mounting tabs are in different places. That would lead me to believe that the two are not interchangeable. Now the second one from the top looks like it would bolt up, but you would have to check and make sure that they have the same wiring.

first two are x-type and the last three are s-type, I was referring to the gauges, thanks Jeff you have help me out in the past I email the seller to get the picture from the back of the cluster to see if it will hook up with current set up, then I nedd to go down to dealer and get it reflashed.
