Instrument lights don't work
I just drove home my first Jaguar last night. I bought a 2003 Str from Crown Jag/Benz in St. Pete's.
I was seriously happy when I started my 1200mile trip home yesterday until it got dark and I realized my instrument lights didn't work. I literally had no dashboard lights except for the led on the od. I ended up using my cell phone to check my guages every once in a while, as there are no freeway lights on I75 North through Kentucky and Tenn. to illuminate the interior of your car at night in the Mountains.
Is this a common problem with these cars. I used the search feature and only found some info on XJ's, nothing on S-types or R's.
I have the full warrenty till 2011 so I'm sure Jaguar will fix it. I'd just like to know if it's a common thing and what the problem is if someone knows anything about it.

Have you checked the dimmer control? It can be turned all the way down so the dash lights go off. It's a small button on the lower left side of the dash. It has a small line on it and lines next to it. Push it in and it will pop out. Hope this helps!

yeah check that, im sure it was just something they overlooked when they got the car.... they are a pretty good dealership ( im from south tampa) and great to get the warranty too! and ive made plenty of trips from gainesville to tampa and back at night so i know how this could be frustrating on 75! let us know how it turns out..

When I turn the lil knob all the way, nothing happens to the instrument lights. The od light gets darker or brighter, but none of the guages are lit, as are none of the climate controls.
I'll drop it off at the dealer, I'll post what they say was wrong.

Well Bigdreams...You always look at it things in that perspective after you shell out that cash. I do atleast. I knew of the recalls and certain things that go wrong, but no as much as I've heard in this forum. It would have made me do my homework a little more. It doesn't really matter though, every car has its issues right? Maybe if I would have been in here earlier, I would have just save more cash to get a 7 series. Problem is, that would have taken a year or so and I wanted to ride now...lol
