Default Jag S-Type 2.7 2006 automatic gear change problem

Hello guys,

I have just bought a Jag Stype Exec 2.7 from 2006. I just felt in love with this car.. though it has a problem. In automatic D mode the gears hesitate to change, it goes up to 1800 rpm makes a rattling noise before changing upper gear, then goes back a few rpm and changes back. In manual no problem about changing gears manually. If I press the acceleration to overtake, it changes the gears quickly but by making the same noise. It is hard to hear it (with AC off); sometimes it changes gears really smoothly. I don’t know what problem is.. Please help if possible!
Cheers Jag lovers

Is it happening when cold, or not used for some time?

I've moved your question from UK & Eire Region to S-Type forum.

Technical questions are best posted in the relevant Model forum. A huge advantage of jaguarforums.com is our international membership. There's a whole World of Jaguar experts out there!

The very first thing to do is to have the gearbox fluid level checked by a Jaguar specialist or a shop specialising in auto boxes.
