i have a 2000 s type v8 and it makes a very weird noise i brought it to the mechanic and thye told me it was the torque converter or somehtign in the transmission. is the lincoln ls transmission identical to the jaguar s type transmission? if anyone knows this please let me know and if there is any differences what are they.because it owuld be alot cheaper to go to a ford dealer and buy a ls transmission compared to the jaguar dealer.

 

Absolutely identical mechanically. I would however swap it out and then ask if they can upload the Jag software to it. If not then take it to Jag and ask for a tranny flash. I'm not %100 sure that the software parameters are the same with different shift points etc.

I too plan on doing this if and when my trans lets go.

 

thanks yea i defintly need to look into that i have a delay for goign into drive to where i sometimes have to go to 4 instead of d then my tranny always slips ill be driving and then it will just rev out and not move doin 60 mph
