Default Looking for ideas on "Fog" Lights

Have 2002 V6 S-Type, I have looked thru multiple posts her and on other forums as well - I am more confused than ever.

My objective is to get the brightest light in the fog lamp that will improve visibility for me . In other words I don't care as much if my car is visible to others on the road, or I have lights that pierce thru thick fog (we don't have any fog to speak of). All I want to see better when the roads are wet (and not have to check the front to see if my lights are on), and see better on dark unlit roads.

I also am not trying to impress anyone with some special colored light so aesthetics is not a major factor.

I think my alternatives are a)retrofit HID of some kind or b) install some better replacement halogen bulb.

What have others done, or do you have any insight into what will work best - names or specifics would be greatly appreciated.

Are the lenses all pitted up? Maybe a good polishing would help more. Plenty of threads here on how to get the job done.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the plan is to polish the lens when I do change the bulbs or whatever I to them sometime this spring - just want to do it all at once. Still looking for ideas.

I normally wet sand with 1000 and then 2000 grit by hand and then run a polisher over the lens with some compound - is sparkling in no time - just have to careful not to scorch the plastic.

Change your standard headlight bulbs while you're at it. Non-HID bulbs, which are "hyper white " at a higher color temperature will improve visibility without having to go the HID route, and avoiding modifying for the HID module, and possibly blinding oncoming drivers.

For the fogs, there are CREE LED sets on EBay that have a magnifying lens on the front of the assembly. These are in the 6000K temperature range, meaning slightly blue in tint. I doubt they'll have more effect than a whiter headlight bulb, through cleaned assemblies.

Thank you that does look like a a great solution - plug and play and no additional components to wire in. I would prefer whiter bulbs in the 4000K spectrum - I should look if they make them. Any experience with the brightness - the wattage number I know is rather deceiving and when it comes to LED's have doubts on how accurate the Lumen's are when comparing between manufacturers.

Got mine off EBay. Multiple temperature ranges available without the need for HID conversion. I think I paid $22 for the pair, another $10 for a high beam pair. Can't argue with the results.
