Default Maintenence with shops other than dealers

Hello, My Jaguar dealer is very far from where I live. I have 2003 S-Type, which now is out of warranty maintenance period. I have just over 50K miles. Can anyone advise if I have oil change done by Jiffy Lube and brake jobs (if required) done by Midas, it will give any problems? Will it give any codes on dashboard which will require resetting by dealer?
Has anyone tried maintenance this way? Please advise.

Oil changes and brake jobs wont throw codes, I think a lot of the people on here do them at home. As long as they are using the correct fluids and parts you are ok.

You might even be better off, the other day I brought mine in to change the rear tires, I just had some work done and one of the hoses to the resevoir tank wasnt all the way clamped and I had a small coolant leak (which was easily fixed)...they suggested a $998 repair of the thermostat and the water pump to fix the leak...

For the rear brakes I think you'll need to re-calibrate the EPB but the details are on here (or a link to them?) if you search. Do some reading

pmandlik, a lot of jobs can be done at almost any shop. When you start getting into electrical problems or motor issues, going to someone that is familiar with Jags will be a great help in saving you money. As for using the "quickie" places (Jiffy Lube, Midas, etc), one store will be great, the next one I wouldn't send my enemy's car to. So, if you have found a shop that does good work, you will have no problems with them. But then, I don't use them all that often as I am a backyard mechanic and I have done all sorts of work on my Jag with no need to see the dealer. The only time the dealership sees my Jag is when I am needing a part and I can't find it elsewhere. Not to say that my Jag won't end up at the dealership at some point, I just have a firm belief that I can do just as good of a job as the dealership can and I save myself some money. So far so good.

Find a good independent, I would not let any car I own near Midas or Jiffy Lube

I could not agree more!

That's like saying would you rather eat at a crappy chain like Olive Garden, or a one of a kind locally owned Italian Restaurant that has better service, products, reputation, and accountability?....

IMHO.
