Hi All, just a quick thread to let any of you know who are contemplating it the Mina Performance Exhaust.... TWO BIG THUMBS UP!!!

I just installed it over the weekend and not too much of a difference around town and at low RPMs. Today I took a longer ride down to KY for work and let me tell you what, WOW!!! on the open road it has a nice throaty European sound to it! Not an obnoxious low end rumble but a nice pleasing growl!

Its also fun off the line. Get into it a little bit and its instant fun to see the looks you get from the unassuming pedestrians when they hear that big V8 sound coming from an inconspicuous 4 door sedan!

Happy motoring!!

Well I don't know what you paid for them but I have the Mina rear boxes (Mufflers) on my 2005 STR. Not much for all that money! I got them at a big discount too.

They normally are about $975 for just a pair of mufflers. I have yet to see where anyone gained any power. I am happy with the sound as they are very quiet but so was the factory exhaust. The tips fit the bumper cut outs much better and they are a very pretty polished stainless steel too.

I agree with tbird6. As much as I want an exhaust the money they want is crazy! Especially with only the possible couple hp gain of mufflers. I think I am going to cut out the X part in the exhaust and run 2 straight pipes in place of them. Retaining the factory mufflers. It will flow much better. I also might make some custom front pipes with no cats to see how she runs! I just wanna keep the noise down. After all it is a luxury car!

Yeah its not really even a HP hit you can fell, but the sound is much improved over the stock boxes especially on higher revs...

I called Chris over at Mina directly and he gave me a deep discount as you can see by my signature I have been a good customer and have just about created myself a Mina STR....

Having it built yourself is the way to go in my experience. I would keep the x part or put in an x-pipe if you go that route though or it will likely sound uneven.

Just read this, don't do that! I did something similar a few years ago by replacing the mid pipe with a simple x pipe, along with high flow cats and the stock rear mufflers. I even took a video of it so try and search for it. Raspy, unrefined, terrible.

If I had to do it all over again, utilizing bang for buck and sound, I would buy the Mina system and replace the mid pipe with a borla 18 inch x pipe in my signature. At least try and figure out what muffler Mina is using and go from there. This would be the most refined way to go IMO.

How is the drone inside the car with the Mina mufflers? Like on the highway at 70-80mph?

Mina is the best for our cars. I love mine, not too loud but just the perfect tone. Sounds SEXYYYY at about 2500-4500rpm!

Here is a quick 160mph clip so you can hear it from inside. But put the windows down and drive into a downtown area and its 10x better

Interior drone: nonexistant, the exhaust really isn't that loud. In fact, inside the cabin, its hardly audible,

a few clips of mine,

Inside the cabin (excuse the v12 lambo noise sorta overriding me):

FF to 1 min 30 seconds in this clip:

Outside the cabin:

GT do you just have the Mina mufflers? Or do you have high flow cats and X pipe?

It has aftermarket cats, previous owner claimed they were high flow, but not so sure about that.

I changed some of the piping to 2.5", but kept the factory resonator, along with mina gallery exhaust.

In short, yea mostly stock exhaust, with mina mufflers.

Oh, and who could forget... visually, the mina exhaust/exhaust tips, simply look awesome. They fill out the bumper cut outs perfectly, look 100x better than the anemic looking bellflower tips you see stock...

They are a highly polished stainless; I recently re polished mine and they came out to a sublime chrome finish... super happy with the mina exhaust...

I agree the tips are great! Also love how the mufflers are somewhat stuffed up high out of the way. I hate seeing an STR with exhaust on it and the mufflers hang way below the rear bumper

Just a quick question- last year I was getting a drone in cabin at 1500 rpm to 2500 rpm and when I discovered some hole is the stock mufflers I had the Mina exhaust installed and although I love the way they look and sound (outside) I still have the very loud drone in cabin. I figured I had some other exhaust issues and now have found out everything looks good. I emailed Chris at Mina for advise and he thought it could be motor/transmission mounts and after I rev'ed it a bit in my driveway-no drone, so I think he might be onto something. I had 1 engine mount changed last year as it was collapsed, but could the remainder be the cause of my noise- it is so load I cannot here the Supercharger any longer-help me restore my quiet cat!! Sounds like you have an exhaust leak. It might be around a clamp/fitting, or joint somewhere,

Bring it to a competent exhaust shop, they will put it up on a hoist, and find the exhaust leak in no time. With the noise you're describing it should not be difficult to find.
