Although I like the sport models more than chromed models that looks nice! I could never imagine liking the chrome pillars...to me it looks like you trying to brand the car straight from the ghetto...generally people trying to put chrome everywhere else except the rims generally have a car that isn't worth anything and need to make it look flashy...personally I think it looks obsurd but thats my take on it...my .02 cents worth...

 

If you're doing tint, I'd keep it back IMO...If you do the chrome pillars might as well do the chrome mirror covers...

 

While your at it chrome the fenders, the door sills, use some chrome tint, the chrome headlight covers and get some platinum/silver teeth...

Gee, my 1993 XJ came with both chrome (nickle plated) door pillar and window mouldingd and I never lived in no ghetto. I think it made the old XJ rather stylish... peasant.

 

I like a lot of chrome. I've always found it funny though that if you look at the upper, upper class and the lower, lower class you will find:

1. They own the best of cars (either pristine or sitting on concrete blocks in the yard)
2. Are very conscienous of their clothes brand (Armani or the latest sports jersey)
3. Females of these two classes lead the way in wearing leapord print everything, from shirts to underwear
4. Neither really work very hard but do better surviving off other's labor
5. They tend to cheat on their spouses more than the middle class
6. Money is the largest issue in the lives (either having it and getting more or not having it and getting some)
7. The make the news the most because they care the least about what anyone else thinks of them

See, I'd put a little chrome on a jag any day. You know why?... Because it's a jag. If you put a little extra chrome on a Jaguar it's still classy. Now when you put a whole lot of chrome on some BS like a oldGeo or a Kia that's another story.
Ghetto:
1) Trying to make a mini van look chromed out is ghetto.
2) Putting rims on your car that cost more than what the car is worth; ghetto.
3) Having a loud a** sound system in a car that rattles is ghetto.
4) Putting ,'22, '23, 24 inch rims on a 22, 23, 24 year old car... also ghetto.

People in upperclass communities who have enough money to by brand new cars off the showroom floor don't have time to buy old cars and try to make them look pretty. They will buy a classic car and restore it, but that's completely different. The lower class communities will buyold cars and put chrome everyhere to make it look flashy. Not my cup of tea.

 

Yeah not mine either...glad everyone else notices this! That is why I don't like chrome where chrome doesn't come stock...other than tasteful rims and where it should come like the front grill looks awesome that I saw on that s-type is hot and I usually don't like chrome so much on the x's....although darker colors look better with it...I still love the sports more...

 

Chrome grill on S-type= yummy! Chrome for me, only where it come like that from factory, and for rims.

+1 on the ideology that rims should not cost more than the car!
