Default Need some help

Hi everyone

I have a 05 3.0 S Type, and have an annoying whine what seems to be coming from the rear. It only seems apparent around 30mph when feathering the throttle. Take you foot off, or press the gas peddle and it goes away. The car only has 62,000. I changed the trans oil filter and oil, which the ones I took out were good, and oil was clean, and I even replaced the diff with another one from a low miles car, and used mega expensive oil to refill it, but still get exactly same noise... any ideas??

That's good information. I'm wondering if it's a carrier bearing, or one of the bearings at the rear. I can't see that even after changing the diff, that both would make exactly the same noise, which leads me to think it has to be something else.... it's bugging the hell out of me

Did you refit your old hubs to the new diff as they can also whine? It maybe an idea to get somebody to sit in the rear to listen if it is louder one side or the other.

No I dint change out hubs. I might have to change them and the carrier bearing next I think. I did read a thread on here where someone changed the bearings in the hubs, and did I step by step thingy... seems a easy enough job to do... after taking on doing the engine oil pan gasket, transmission oil pan and changing the diff out, I think I'm getting really good at working on this car... lol

I would look on ebay. I managed to find a bargain on a front hub which was complete with sensor for only 35 euros. So you would save yourself a lot of work if you just change the whole hub.
