New nightmare auto Electricians F up part 3
Hi everyone will I think things have go from bad to worse
all three of my s types are now at my parents place for storage for when I go to the United Kingdom
I ended up removing the engine control module from my str and had it sent away
I have now been told what ever the auto Electricians did
They have some how removed the vid block information
So now don't know what to do
Any advice would be appreciated
thank you Darrol

Yes, Darrol has connected his SDD to the jag and the SDD could not connect, as the Jag "forgot, who she was".
I found the following AI answer, which I think might be helpful:
The Vehicle Identification Block (VID) is a critical component within a Jaguar vehicle's electronic system, storing the vehicle's as-built data and configuration information, essentially serving as the vehicle's electronic DNA. This block is typically located within the Engine Control Module (ECM) and contains details such as the vehicle's market specification, feature set, and other operational functions. The VID block can be modified to enable or disable features, change market variants (e.g., from JAP to AUS), or adjust specifications like the audio system or lighting type.
For vehicles like the Jaguar S-Type (2002-2007), X-Type (2001-2009), XJ (2003-2009), and various XF, F-Type, XE, F-Pace, and Land Rover models, the VID block is a key element for proper vehicle operation and feature functionality. Issues with the VID block, such as corruption or incorrect configuration, can lead to problems like the loss of key functionality (e.g., remote unlocking) or the appearance of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) like "Incorrect Vehicle Identification (VID) configuration". In such cases, the VID block may need to be reprogrammed using a scan tool or, if the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) does not allow reprogramming, a PCM reflashing might be required.
Accessing and modifying the VID block typically requires specialized software and tools. For instance, the SDD (Special Diagnostic Software) can be used to enter engineering mode, which is necessary for editing the VID block, although this process may require a passcode obtained from Jaguar, often tied to a subscription. There are also third-party tools and software, such as a Jaguar Vid Block Editor, which can be used to read and potentially edit the VID block, although the data is often encrypted and requires decryption to interpret the entries correctly. The process of modifying the VID block, including calculating the correct checksum for the new configuration, can be complex and requires specific knowledge and tools.

His vid bloock might be stored on a session of his. Might get lucky. If not the ones who messed it up may have it stored. It could absolutely get complicated Peter as you state. This may help too but for wds.

There is a problem with can bus tested pins 6 & 14
so have to work out where that problem is
guess I need to work out if engine control module is getting power from the plug in engine bay
Thanking you

Yes this forum is so far superior to the crappy data stealing AI. Just use this forum as the depth of experience is huge.
Sorry to see you have more problems as you worked thru a bunch!
Hoping your Jaguar fleet was running smooth.
