Default New owner with a few questions.

New to the S Type Forum but have been on the x300 and XJS forum for quite a few years since I own one of each. The model I bought is a 2005 S type R since I thought it was time to check out Jaguar's supercharged goodness. The vehicle is in excellent condition inside and out and is a color I don't see too often, radiance red. The previous owner had replaced all 4 Cats shocks so that was a good thing. The upper shock mounts on the front also need to be replaced so my question is, is there different mounts for the standard shocks and Cats shocks, hole size different? I have read different things online, some places say all the same part.

My other question is about upper A arms. The rubber boots on the ball joints are shot so I will have to replace both. I see Rock Auto has Moog arms for about $90.00 each or should I get the Lemforder at $127.00 which is the best price online I have found, unfortunately they only have the left side in stock.

I recently discovered my upper A arm boots are all torn as well. Not bad I suppose for around 18 years use.
These boots are of course available for a fraction of buying new A arms but I figured I would buy a whole new set of upper arms as the other two bushes in the arms may need to be replaced. Easy to replace when you have a complete set available.
I will buy some replacement ball joint boots as well to keep on hand just in case the replacements don't last as long as the factory originals and have a go at seeing if the originals can be repaired and the other bushes sourced. If I can find the other bushes that is.
For me in Australia I have found that onlinecarparts.co.uk were the cheapest. Oddly they appear to be based out of Berlin..
I paid them 263 Pounds including postage for a complete set. Fronts are branded 'MS Germany'. Rears are branded 'SIDEM'. I can post a link to their part numbers/site as well if required.
They have yet to arrive so I cant comment on the quality and fit yet but the seller actually called me to confirm my car details first before dispatch.
Not sure about the shock mounts.

You can look the part up yourself using the official Jaguar parts catalogue that is avialable on-line.
You will need your vin number to get the right part number:

I stand corrected.
Due to some email confusion with onlineparts.co.uk the price was actually 74 pounds each for the rear upper A arms only and not for a whole set as I mentioned. Plus postage. The fronts new are around 52 pounds each plus postage. Their postage to Australia was at least fair at 110 pounds.
For a complete new set you would need to pay around 260 pounds plus postage.

I have replaced my upper a arms with moog ones. I haven't seen an issue yet.. but for an extra couple bucks it might be worth it if you can spare it to get the Lemforder ones..

The Lemforder isn't necessarily better. It's the OEM brand tho.
Just get something that looks good quality by looking at the ball joint.
About the shock mount, I don't know the s type R but I guess that they are similar to non R version, assuming that the shocks are pretty similar. All s type's shock mounts come from China. There is 2 type of shock mounts : One solid piece of rubber (Ford), and 2 pieces black and orange rubbers (Jaguar). Both fit on the car according to the part refs. You can get them for a good price from Aliexpress.

I ordered the Lemforder upper A arms from Carid, best price I could find. One arm arrived yesterday other one is coming from west coast. The bag said made in U.K. the arm itself had numerous numbers on it but there was also what looked like Chinese stamped in a colored ink on the arm.

On the shock mounts what I was wondering is the hole in the bushing where the shaft goes through a different diameter for Cats. as compared to regular shocks? I know on the XJ8s there are different size bushings depending on the shocks used.
