Default Now many S-Type R's are out there?

Hi.

I just purchased 2003 S-Type R VIN SAJAA03SX31M90915 and Im interested how many of these are produced. I know, that S-Type was quqite successful project for Jaguar, but how many of these were R-badged?

Not sure jaak, but find it strange to see the s-type w/o the ol' leaper! Pretty car though.

I think there were around 350 total between 2003 and 2004 if i read correctly. and another 750 2005-2008

so that makes our pre update that much more desirable

Only about 1000 cars is makes it really rare
Puts it in the same line with many exclusive supercars, like Porsche Carrera GT, 1270 produced...

I know, that last numbers in VIN is real production sequence number. But I believe, that R serial number are in-line with together with other S-Type models.

How satisfied with the S type R are you reliability wise? The reason I ask is that it looks smaller than a regular XJR, and I am under the impression that the S type has alot more Ford DNA than the XJR.

My wife has 2002 XK8, very reliable, no problems at all. I bought my 2003 second hand S-Type R just week ago and already have some erratic electrical problems. Gave it to local Jag service yesterday to sort them out. Engine failure, handbreak failure and DSC light are coming on and it went twice to safe mode.

Sure, S-Type bases on Jaguar/Ford DEW worldwide platform, still heavily modified. R-version is actually modified much further with revised suspension and uprated brakes etc... Knowing, it's based on Ford, I still like Jag S-Type R elegant-sportive style and individuality a lot. I have had many cars and currently I have Porsche 911 and BMW 745 in my stable I was very positively surprised about R-s ride quality. Its same time comfortable and very driveable car.

Actually, current Jaguar XF bases still on the same Jaguar/Ford DEW platform, so many years later. Seems proved concept...
