No access to my manuals at the moment, so please somebody double check this. I thought only two things can illuminate the brake warning light on the dash. Remember, this is an early model (2001), the later models may be different:

1) Parking brake handle not released

2) Low fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir

If the fluid level is normal, and the handle is fully released and the brakes don't feel like they are binding, you've probably got a false indication. In that case, you'd be fine to carefully drive home but get that fixed as soon as possible. It would be dangerous to have a real fault develop (such as losing brake fluid) but not realize it.

not that I know but he had already said that the hand brake works and that there is fluid in the reservoir, that is why I suggested that he checks the rear pads etc to see if it was over extended and that was resulting in brake light showing.

Guys, it's getting worse. I don't have a scanner because I found a guy, but he is back home.
Now a few minutes after the start the cars mileage, average fuel and etc (normal things I can toggle between) all go into dashes " - ---- -" that sort of thing. The steering gets heavier, but still usable and after I remove the key from the ignition and open my door to exit the car the lights don't turn on and I cannot open the boot.
All that is fixed if I just start the car again, but then these problems come back after 2-3 min.
I'm getting scared and I don't have any idea what the hell is going on.

Is this all new since the battery was replaced? A marginal battery can cause all sorts of baffling symptoms.

Is your present battery new? Can't remember if you specifically said that or not. Or perhaps the new one is defective. Rare, but it happens.

I'd suggest running a thorough check of the battery and charging system. Have the battery load tested to make sure the voltage doesn't drop below limits when starting. Check the charging voltage, too. With the engine running, you should see at least 13.5 volts at the battery. If less, your battery is not getting properly recharged, leading to strange faults like you have experienced. Do the charging test with the battery fully charged, so put it on a charger overnight ahead of time.

Is this your only car and you need it reliable right away, and are willing to spend accordingly? Or did you buy this as a project, knowing it would need some work? Just trying to get a feel for your budget and sense of urgency.

check the battery connections have been correctly tightened up and look to see if you have water in the boot/trunk.

And download a copy of the workshop manual JTIS or you will running about like a headless chicken.

Buy an elm327 so that you can read the codes. They only cost about 16€ and I am sure that they will be available in Bulgaria. without one you be lost with these cars.

You have said that you have worked on Merks for 2 years so you must know how important they are and how they will save you money.

It is virtually impossible for us to help you with your car when you dont have any codes.

From the TSB stickies, this may help:

Guys sorry I was away. Had some family problems.
I found a shop where they are ok to work on Jags.
In short:
- the ABS sensor needs to be changed.
- the parking brake light on the dash was because of the fluid sensor (the guy was able to fix it)
The car's been in the shop for 7-8 days because one of the techs was playing with the windows and the window behind the driver failed. The mechanism that lifts and lowers the window broke, so they are trying to find a replacement or to fix it.
For now I will be searching for an ABS sensor, cause they are around 350 each from the dealership.
I did get an elm327 and downloaded just about every app even Tourge Pro, but all I can see is live data like rpm, but it can't read the codes. Once the shop fixes the window I will speak with the guys who sold me the reader and will see if we can try out a few more.
I do have one question - is there any way to find out what parts are compatible with my car? There are not a lot of cars like mine, but there are others and I just want to know what parts I can buy second hand that would fit.
That's kind of it for now. Thanks for the help. Hope all of you are doing well.

dont get worried all of these bits are available on eBay.
to find out the part numbers download the JEPC (jaguar electronic parts cataloge)

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-xmas-48052/.

This will give you the jaguar part number and you can look on the internet for compatible items.

To Get a wheel sensor buy the complete hub of eBay. I got one for less than 60 € with the abs sensor fitted. I have posted a link before.

to repair the window you can use this kit or get a motor on eBay as well.
JAGUAR S TYPE FENSTERHEBER REPARATUR SET MITNEHMER HINTEN LINKS | eBay.
what type of elm do you have? Bluetooth wifi or usb.

i use this program eobd-facile which comes as an app for android or apple. you can get it on google or apple store. It is free and will work with Bluetooth or wifi. It comes in a lot of languages (French - English - German - Russian - Swedish - Spanish - Italian - Portuguese - Dutch - Polish - Turkish) and has the codes for Jaguar.

I use it on a laptop because I find it better.

350 dollars I assume. No way.
I bought a pre-owned abs sensor off ebay for £15 uk sterling. Took 20 minutes to fit it myself.

I have a bluetooth elm. I will try out that program once I get the car back. I will send the ebay link over to the techs, cause the car's been with them for over 10 days and they can't seem to fix the window. Getting really angry, so most probably going to take it back on Tuesday at the latest if they are still stick on it.

Yes Jags are not that common over in Bulgaria, but how specific can the window mechanism be...
Anyways I'm going to check out buying the sensor online as per your advice.

As always guys I can't than you enough for the help
