Default Purchased a 2005 Jag STR - Car has been sitting for years

Hello all,

I just purchased a black/black ‘05 STR with 134k miles for about $1000 American.

I’m located in Ontario, Canada where STRs seem to be as rare as anywhere. Body and interior in near mint condition. Motor seems to run flawlessly. Frame is a little bit rusty due to Canadian winters but still solid. The car has been sitting for about 6 years.

it was in dire need of a new battery so that’s all I’ve really purchased so far. I also went out and put some fresh premium gas in the tank and fuel stabilizer. The gas tank was on empty. Unfortunately, the car was damaged during the tow to my house after purchase. The front passenger tie rod was snapped and the front bumper was damaged. One of the round disks on the front bumper is missing, along with one of the plastic inserts that covers up the tow hook. Some scratches, etc as well. I’m following up with tow company regarding the damages.

Some other issues I’ve noticed: no audio from stereo system, even the new battery is drained after several days, “cruise not available” error on dash, “apply park brake and handbrake” message on dash, however the electric parking brake does not seem to work, sunroof track appears to need replacement, passenger side window off track. That’s “all” that comes to mind for now.

Whats your thoughts on my buy and what do you recommend considering the car has been sitting?

Cheers

probably needs the modules to be reprogrammed. but you can try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, then reconnecting power to try and reset the modules again

Change all fluids.

If you have a service history, check to see if the coolant hose underneath the supercharger has been replaced.
