i own a Jaguar STR ‘05. I got it with no radio but had the climate control which wasn’t working. i went to the junkyard and picked up the climate control and radio and plug it in and still not lighting up on the climate control. the radio works but no sound. there is cut harness from the amp. i will show pictures. in need of desperate help please!!
I don't know about the climate control, and not sure why someone has spliced into the Amplifier speaker wires either.
It's possible that someone has retro-fitted the Amp as an upgrade from Standard audio (with the amplifier in the CD player) to the Alpine Premium system but not realised that the Premium speaker plugs are hidden away in the doors and so they've run separate speaker wires. Seems a bit strange.
But anyway, it looks like your CD player is not recognising the amplifier. The non-touchscreen CD players have to be programmed using Jaguar SDD software to work with the Amplifier, so if your donor unit came from a car without an Amp, it would need to be reprogrammed.
It's also possible that there is an issue with the amp or the D2B fibre optic loop, if a previous owner has been fiddling then anything is possible. First thing to check is make sure you plugged the fibre optic connector into the back of the CD player (just under the multiplug).
If this was my car I would use the above to trace through the modifications done to the wireing. But it does look like a bit of a mess!
As mentioned above there are two sets of speaker wires going to two seperate plugs in the doors.
One set is for the standard speakers that are powered from the head unit.
The other set are for the 'premium audio' option that are powered from the amp in the boot/trunk.
The head unit is connected to the amp in the trunk via the fibre optic network.
The actual speakers were different depending on standard or premium sound and they use different plugs with the other plug in the door left disconected.
My guess would be that the speakers are not connected. You will need to take the door pannels off to see what colour wires are connected to the speakers.
