Default Rear View Mirror Dang

Well, after a long winter storage with a car cover on, I dig out my 2006 S-Type and find the mirror didn’t handle the months of being not driven so well. It has come loose from the windshield. There seems to be a glob of clear sticky stuff that was holding a circular sensor of some sort and the main housing appears to have been twisted and locked into a thin bracket still fixed rather securely to the windshield. But I can’t it to stay on.

Has anyone else been down this road of problems before? Thanks for any advice.

Earnest

Check with an automotive glass specialist; they may be able to help...
