Default Rev limiter on the 3.0L S-type ('02) ???

Does the 3.0L have a rev limiter built into the throttle when in park or neutral? Mine revs up to about 3000 rpm when in nuetral or park and will not go any higher no matter how far I push the pedal.

I am thinking this is probably a safety feature, but just want to make certain this is normal on a '02 3.0L with an automatic transmission.

In drive it will go quickly up to 6.5K or so if I jump on the gas. It is just when in 'N' or 'P' that I have noticed this.

Thanks.

Yup, normal. Our '06 Dodge Grand Caravan does the exact same thing.
