S-Type 2007 - Premium Sound Subwoofer Install
I got my S-Type last week, she is a late 2007 so post facelift.
First project is to upgrade to Premium Sound using original fit used Jaguar Alpine parts. Acquired from an auction site:
Set of 4 door speakers
Two subwoofers
Boot mounted amplifier
Front door grilles with Alpine logos
The car already has Touchscreen, CD Multichanger and Jaguar Bluetooth Module for phone. It's awesome that the wiring loom is already prewired in the facelift cars!
The subwoofers arrived yesterday so I fitted them today whilst waiting for the other parts to arrive.
1. Removed rear parcel shelf, took about 20 minutes:
2. Peeled off foam gaskets as they were in poor shape and used a plasticine type electrical putty that doesn't set as a gasket:
3. Fitted into the factory cut holes using M4 bolts and plugged into the pre existing wiring:
4. Added sound proofing to under side of parcel shelf. This was fiddly and took an hour or two:
5. My non-premium car has speaker grilles by default, either side of the third brake light. so this should work fine:
6. Tomorrow I will soundproof under the shelf boot/trunk side. I'll also have to modify the boot carpet trim (cant see the point in buying the Premium carpet trim, as it appears to be the same as mine with a cut out where the speakers protrude into the boot).
I'll add some more pics of this stage tomorrow
