Default S-type 3.0 crank sensor

Hello all,

Does anyone know what the static resistance on a healthy (or new) OE crankshaft position sensor should be? I believe part # XR829578.
This car has had what I believe to be an aftermarket version installed. Signal is weak (<.5V p-p) at idle and measures 285 ohms. This seems low to me.
It starts and runs but sets P0335.
It is an '03 V6 3.0 S-type; last 6 of VIN: M91004.

What is the age of the battery?

Has the starter motor been replaced, or other work done that may have caused damage to the drive plate?

Thanks, NB.
Battery is less than a year old.

This is a V6 so crank sensor is reading off gear behind front damper, in timing cover, not off flywheel as in V8.

Sorry, missed noting it is a 3.0 litre.

Do not have a sensor lying about to test, but you may want to also check connectors and perhaps replace the sensor assuming there is nothing wrong with the reluctor gear.

This is where it gets tricky.
I did indeed replace the sensor. I used an aftermarket sensor sourced through a local parts store. The price was $24, BWD brand. OE from Jaguar is $200.
The $24 dollar version is listed as fitting Ford Taurus (similar engine) and cross-referenced to also fit 3.0 S-type. This is why I would like to know resistance value of an OE sensor. I suspect the Jaguar system uses a different value but I'm not sure. 285 ohms seems low to me.
This is a customer's car and I should know better than try to save him money but I usually try.
If I can be sure an OE sensor will fix it I will certainly use one.
Connections appear good but it is not so easy to access PCM to verify continuity but running engine with sensor disconnected indicates that the signal is reaching the PCM.
Thanks for your input.

I ended up replacing the PCM. That fixed it.
Thanks again, NBCat.
