Default S-Type Demographics

I have observed that S-Type owners seem to fit different demographic categories based largely on what engine their car is equipped with. My very unscientific observations are as follows:

1. 2.7 Diesel: British mostly given the popularity of diesels in the UK. Single, ages late 20s to mid 30s. DIY chores centered on preventative maintenance and appearance items.

2. 3.0 V6: Mostly married, ages 40s to 60s. Wife will drive the car a significant percentage of the time. DIY chores centered on preventative maintenance and appearance items as noted above.

3. 4.0/4.2 V8: Half and half married vs single, ages 30s to mid 40s. Car is driven mostly by males. DIY chores as noted above but will include performance tweaking to some extent.

4. STR: Mostly single, ages 20s to early 40s. Car is driven exclusively by males. For the most part, they have been modified to enhance performance significantly as well as significant appearance upgrades. Very few are left completely stock.

Forgot one other part.... There are the poor saps that fit into number 3 but could only afford number 2.... And really want to be able to afford a XF!

Honestly I think that it is really hard to pin down and categorize any owner group. This group is really all over the place. Then when you add in the ones I see on the road, there is no classifying them.

Jeff,

I did put in the unscientific disclaimer. I should have added that the 3.0 owners seem to have a fair degree of experience with kiddie seats.

I think the demographic changes as the cars get older and cheaper to purchase.
Don't think there are many young guys driving STR's 06-07-08 and certainly not modding them due to being under warranty.
The 00-03 S types are so cheap to buy now, we are getting many more Jag owners who were shut out of the S type market strickley due to price a few years ago.
The only thing that has not got cheaper is parts and service and that is where some run into difficulty keeping the car maintained and running correctly.

Ours is 06 STR stock and woman driven 95% of the time.Paid cash for the purchase and will do my own wrenching, have an extended warranty.2nd Jag we have owned.

Obviously your car is running fine and you have excessive free time! And this is from an old person over 62.
