I posted this in the Marketplace area a few days ago. I am looking for a right rear silencer for a 2003-2008 S-type with the Naturally aspirated4.2L V8 engine. Part #XR849449 - [the current one is stamped 4R85-5232-CA]. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.- probably should be in the lower 48 or Ontario due to shipping costs.

As a side note, I have received a few suggestions from "Junior Members" who have little or no presence on the Forum regarding this. They all direct me to email addresses with no further info except "he's a great guy". I did make contact with one of the suggestions who claimed he has the silencer. I asked him for pictures and he sent a photo of the stampings showing part # etc. It looked oddly familiar. In fact it looks exactly like one of the photo's that XJ-Motors [a reputable scrapper] currently has posted for a pair of these silencers. Down to the serial #, date of manufacture and various scrapes and discoloration marks. So, just a word to the wise - it seems there may be some scammers working our wonderful forum - so be careful!

I also DID NOT fall for a recent scammer trap: I was looking for chooks (chicken) on facebook. Found some. Guy wanted to be paid into bank account before I would arrive on the next day. I did obviously not do that. Then I used google-picture search, and found that those exact same pictures of those chooks were used since years for scams around the world...

Those criminal scumbags have no consciousness. He was asking for AU$120 and on the next day I would have had to drive 200km one way to find a random address of some people, who would not know about anything...

 

Being directed to some email address with a message like "my mates got one of those to sell" is sadly a very common approach to scamming people these days. Report them and get them removed from the forum at least.

 

It's expensive to use Jaguar mufflers? For what they charge I would consider installing a pair of after market ones.
Here is your part number and for almost $800 I think you can do it MUCH cheaper!

Yes, a common scam we all need to be well aware of. Someone tried this on me in the UK forum recently whilst looking for an impossible to find STR RH parkbrake cable, said his friend had one.
Non car related side issue; had a DocuSign scam email come through that looked legitimate. Email asked me to sign a DocuSign document. Be very careful out there.
