I see that you all are making progress and I do not wish to interfere but I was wondering if this car was a repo and the security was compromised. Now it appears that an aftermarket radio/phone or remote start was removed. I would look at the wires and correct that first and clean up that mess and with a little luck it may correct the problem.

Good job thus far! If possible, remove what's left of the stereo and phone wiring; be sure to check any splice points the installer used to hack into the vehicle's wiring harness as the wires may look intact but the copper strands may have been severed by the connector they used. Use a magnifying glass if you're not sure!

HI Gus.. Yes the vehicle was purchased at an auction by my brother and he had given it to us as a gift... I sure will try to clean up the wiring but that pats light blinks constantly for one minute and then blinks at 5 seconds then 2 for the next minute or it may be 2 seconds then 5.. I was getting dizzy trying to figure it out, Thanks again . mack

HI NBCat and Tomorrow I will check the wires that were attached to the fuse box in the passenger compartment with a magnifying glass as you suggested... This site is sure wonderful and you folks are Awesome.. I will clean up the wiring and I was also wondering if i can take the key to the jaguar dealer and have them re program it or would i need to have the car towed there for the pats reset .. Thank you again. mack

It's in the car. Multiple modules share data. Keys have to be ones they recognise but that's where the key ends.

Once you've repaired and sorted out the wiring, the vehicle will need to go to the dealership or a shop having the OBD equipment necessary to program the keys and reset the immobiliser (PATS). If you're located in Orange County, I can recommend two places that are more reasonable than the Jaguar dealerships.

We recently had an S-Type on this forum that was acquired where an aftermarket remote starter was installed and removed. The car had a series if electrical issues because of the connectors that prevented it from running properly. Remove the unused wire tap / connections and check the integrity of the cars wiring first. This way it should not be part of the no start issue and it should not cloud the process of starting with unnecessary work.

You are going to have to take the car to the dealer eventually as has been said already, it will pay you to go through the wiring with a fine tooth comb and try and make sure all the connections are as standard as possible before you do that.
Here is some info on the PATS system which may help.

Hello All... I first want to thank all of you and this website for the fine help and links..
The vehicle was towed to a shop here in town and I asked him to program the key to the ignition as it was immobilized.. He did that at , but had told me the vehicle still will not start.. I had it towed back here and called a locksmith that was recommended and he hooked up his equipment and said the vehicle needs to keys and the system was awaiting the second key... He made the key and programmed them both again.. The vehicle starter would still not roll over.. The fault now being able to read it since the keys were programmed properly from the pats lamp it was fault 2-4.. I had access to the ecu area and something made me what i dont know??/ I pushed on the ecu with my right hand and tried to start it with my left.. The vehicles starter engaged... It did not start but it turned.. I was so HAPPY.. I pulled the wipers , engine cowl area to access the ecu connector , it was lose.. I pushed on it and the vehicle started.. ALL IS WELL. THANK YOU AGAIN EVERYONE. , Mack

Fantastic!

The PCM connectors I've seen all have bolts to keep them properly tight. You might want to find out what's happened to the bolt.... (Captive in the plug.)

Job well done indeed! Have you driven the car as yet and are there any other codes present when you did?

HI NBCat. I have not driven the car as yet.. I just completed replacing the interior today and will take it for a spin tomorrow.. There was about 7 codes that popped up and I erased them and they had not came back since .. As for the ECM .. it looks like who ever put it in tightend the bolts to much and they drove them into the plastic where you cant even see the head.. It had the reverse effect and forced the harness lose .. Tomorrow I am going to back them off and install a washer they were driven right through the plastic..Thank you again ,mack

You're welcome!

I shudder to think what someone had been doing to that poor car.
