Default Silver car-Black Roof

Hey guys, Was just wondering what everybody thinks about the s type with a black roof similar to what they do on the audi's and MB? Pros and cons. And if anyone is good with photoshop maybe we can get some pics!!!

A week ago Saturday, I was driving down I-77 and saw a silver S with a blue landau top. I tried to get a pic with my phone but it came out all blurry. To answer your question though, black (or blue) paint or fabric not for me....

I think it might look right on a sport pack car (no chrome).

There aren't too many people into modding S-types here, except for a few of the STR guys.

If I was you I'd do a vinyl wrap so if you don't like it, or get tired of it, you can always just go back to stock.

Take a pic of your car on the right angle (from above a bit) and we can play with photoshop.

So no one has done any custom paint work on their S types? That's too bad. I was just talking to my wife the other day about how our S type would look with the right custom paint job.

I was hoping to see some examples of custom paint work.

That two tone does look nice... if you were inclined to drive such a flashy car.

Go on cardomain.com and search for S-types there are plenty of examples of "custom" S-types.

Cool! I like the two tone as well, but I'm not sold on the black on silver. My guess is that some Jag purists are screaming right now about the thought of custom paint work.

What I do like is some of the colour combinations the folks over at Bugatti have come up with for they're Veyron. Now those are some sweet colour combos! Like these :

Now translate some of these colour schemes over to the S type.... drool.....

Rob

- that, or get Foose to do up some custom colour schemes for ya!

There's actually a guy who has a body shop down here that makes a side business out of "customizing" S-types, and selling them.

He generally gets 2000 - 2001 S-Types, does custom paint, big flashy wheels. And sells them for 10-11k. Apparently he sells about one per month...

Here are some examples of his work, and some different variations on the two toned theme.

George,

From time to time I see some horridly ghettoed S-Types in our neck of the woods. Those cars in your attached photos above would fit right in, unfortunately....

Given this lousy economy, who has the disposable income to throw away on crap like this anyway?

What he does is this. Picks up 2000 (and occasionally 01) S-Types for 3-4k from the dealer auction, he has a dealer license and a used car lot next to the body shop as well. Spends around 2k on them (Paint, wheels etc, some chrome crap, window tints). And then sells them to the "baller on a budget crowd" - his words, not mine.. For 10-11k. Basically doubling his money. The funny thing is they all have stock Ford Stereos.

I bet the average buyer doesn't even file an income tax return lol...Much less have worries about the recession.

Yeah I think that would be cool. I would still vinyl wrap it first to see if you liked it. you would have to do the moldings around the door trim too.

Personally, those seem to mimic the BMW M3's carbon fiber roof, so, if that is what your going for, get a carbon fiber wrap..

Please tell me I correctly detect a strong hint of sarcasm in that statement

I looked at the roofline of my S-type when I got home, and I have to say, the C pillar ruins it. On the BMW's and the MB's this is done on, there is a distinct break in the roofline before the C Pillar comes down. On our cars there is no break, you'd just have to tape it off..

So I am glad you decided against it...
