....Sorry to beat a dead horse, but....!
......Hey, gang!
I have a 2007 S-Type 3.0 with around 130k-The dreaded, loud WHHHHHHHHRRRRRRR-HMMMMMMMMMM started coming from the rear...First? Faintly....Then? Loudly.
I noticed something funny, however-Going around a corner? Even with the throttle down? The noise disappears-If the wheel is straight, however? It's LOUD!
The car needs new rear tires-Desperately. According to my mechanic? They're worn down to the belts, worn on the inside of the rears. Curiously? The outside looks fine-He didn't have time to put the car on a lift, but suggested that before I worry about bearings, that the loud noise could be tire-related.
Given that the noise disappears accelerating into a corner? (Regardless of which direction the wheel seems to be turned.) Aside from tires? Is this characteristic of a wheel bearing failure, or something else?
Thanks in advance!

Hey 04xcat
I would start with the new tires and Brutals alignment specs here:
Brutal's revised alignment specs
Brutal is a well respected tech here that shares his knowledge with us for the push of the "Thanks" button located in the lower corner of a post box.
Please do not start a thread on what tires to choose, far, far too many threads about that.
Also welcome to the forum and follow forum protocol by introducing yourself here:

There are a lot of DIYs found here as well:

.....Thanks Rick-And? Forgive me for not following proper etiquette! I just posted my: "intro," and? I'll have pics of my ride shortly! This is my second Jag-I first joined the forum several years ago when I had an x-type, but? Sadly? A fellow reading his text messages slammed right into my side, totaling the car!:-( I was perfectly fine for a 35-mph impact!
I LOVE this "unexpected" Jag-I work for a dealer, and it came to us as a trade-Normally? I'd never consider a 100k-plus mile car, but? After my x-type? I whipped out my checkbook!
I've had it for about 11k miles now, and? It's been a WONDERFUL companion! I only fear that I've left that noise for quite some time now, and? Haven't: "Noticed it" until it got too loud!
I can only imagine the: "Tire Thread!" :-P
Meanwhile? I'm happy to navigate around a bit-Bear with me, as I'm a: "Newbie!" Thanks! -Rob
