Default Squealing Jaguar

Squeaky / Squealing Jaguar

My Jaguar “S” type, 2003 2.5 V6 squeals / squeaks. It seems to be associated with the demand on the alternator.

I had a slightly flat battery once and when I started the car there was a squeal which came quite pronounced and lasted for several miles then disappeared. I fully charged the battery and the squeal wasn’t there.

The squeal happens again every time I start the car and goes away after a few hundred yards of use except when I have headlights and fans and other electrical devices on. Then the squeal is there. That’s why I think that it is associated with electricity demand

The condition of the belts and pulleys have been checked and they seem to be OK.

Could anyone please give me their opinion of what the problem is.

Thank you in anticipation.

You say pulleys, did you have a good look at the belt tensioner pulley? You may have to slack the belt and possibly remove tensioner to have a really good look.

The belt may look OK but if you don't know when it's been changed I would start with that.
