Hi guys,,,, one of my headlights blew this week, so I'm going to replace the bulb this weekend... fun fun....

I see several mentions in here about Xenon vs. HID vs. OEMetc....

I have a 2000 S-type, non Xenon, but I've heard you can replace standard bulbs with some with a Xenon look, or atthe very least some that are a bit brighter than standard. I'd like to do that,but don't know where to start.

Any recommendations of replacement bulbs that won't break the bank or fry my headlight wiring? Links to viable replacements would be appreciated.

I think FactoryJaguarTech mentioned that the newer Jags were getting Philips Vision Plus (non-blue) as standard bulbs in non-HID use. I have hear also of good results with the Osram Silver Star's (xenon gas, but not blue), though harder to find over here in the US. They have been reviewed for around 50% light output.

Trust me on the Xenon bulb look...they're for looks, not application. You don't get near the road illumination, and you'll be cussing yourself the next time it rains. Choose carefully my friend.

Thanks for the info guys ... when Itook the dust covers off to replace the bulbs, I noticed an entirely different issue... the entire light fixture is loose and is moving inside the housing... I assume this is related to other issues I've seen posted in here... guess this means I need to replace the headlights now?...

Gotta tell you, the little things that are failing on this car are driving me nuts!! Are S-Types made of Lego blocks or something ?

PS.. I polished the lenses,, real pretty now, just don't work right !!
