Default Steering wheel movement

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum so is this question has been answered I apologize.

I recently bought a used 2001 S-Type with 97,577 miles. I don't know anything about it and I'm slowly finding more things wrong with it, unfortunately I like the car and I'm hoping to keep it. Here's my issue the steering wheel flops around, I mean you can physically move the steering wheel from side to side and up and down while driving. This that normal or is there some seriously wrong?

Welcome to the forum

You may get more response by posting in the S type specific forum further down the main page. Its luck of the draw who comes along in general help.
