A word of warning- at least on my 06 str, the area where the line goes into the throttle body is tight and clustered with crap everywhere. Finding the right brass fitting along with the right bends for the lines wasn't easy. I believe I eventually got it all squared away but it shouldn’t heck wasn’t easy and I would hate to have to do it over again. I went through many iterations of fittings either straight or 90° or 45° angles and lines both plastic and steel to try to make the connection and not have the line interfere with something else in that tight *** area

Yup it’s definitely tight in there on the 05 as well, I’ll end up pulling the entire elbow/snout off. And doing something similar like the above example. Plus I have to fix one of the throttle body threads on the snout as well. It was already stripped. So some tedious work ahead of me, along with replacing the valve cover gaskets too. Hopefully those two are my finally fixes for the smoke check leaks.

I think I took the throttlebody on and off about 50 times and changed out that fitting 40 times before I found a combination of fittings and lines that would work

Hi, I'm having problems finding the right parts for this job, will the "C2S15816" part number actually work or will it be too small for the v8 version?

May not be quoted for the STR, but for any other Jag V6 and Deisel. and Yes it fits just fine.

Proof if proof were needed.

Thanks! I will order it and we will see. My car is the xf sv8 and it should be mechanically the same, however while building the car I have found there to be some differences regarding some stuff. Let's hope for the best.

nope XF SV8 has a way bigger brake booster pipe and fitting. look up 12mm john guest connector.

if the pipe is scratched slather that thing in RTV to make sure you don't have a comeback

I have tried to find the right one from john guest since reading a lot of the conversations from before, but I can't seem to find anything that looks like the oem connector. I was also thinking of replacing the pipe itself aswell.

There is like 16 different 12mm john guest connectors, does it matter which one it is? I feel extremely dumb asking all these questions, I have never had such problems finding such simple parts on any car ever 🙂

Dude!
How about a press?
...two 1/4" drive sockets, one fits flush with brass connector, and one that will fit on the TB surround. A bolt goes through from the inside if the TB, through a nut "A"(to hold the bolt head to where you have access) then a washer to bear up against a 9/32" socket (bearing against the brass connector) then through the brass connector to a 9/16" socket (bearing against the TB) then through another washer and finally another nut "B".

To use, just tighten Nut-A down the bolt to where you comfortably have access to the bolt head from the inside of the TB. Hold that bolt head with a wrench / spanner.
Now tighten Nut-B and you will pull the insert out. No need to remove from the vehicle.

Same press can be used in reverse.

Phil
