Default Sun / Moonroof reset

I had a problem with my sunroof the other day, I had it open and when I parked I locked the car and shut the roof with the global closing.

When I came back the roof was tilted up at the back, I closed it and everything seemed ok, but when I was driving there was a lot of wind noise, when I checked from outside the rear of the roof was down about 1/8"-1/4" I cycled the roof open / closed and up / down but it didn't make any difference.

Came and did a search as I remembered something about a reset procedure but couldn't find anything in the S forum, I tried the X forum and came up with this procedure which worked a treat for me.

Press the switch to operate the roof panel to the fully tilt position.
Release the switch. Press the switch again in the same direction,
fully tilt and hold for 30 seconds or until the roof panel moves
slightly. Release the switch and, within 5 seconds, press in the
same direction and hold. The roof panel will travel automatically
to the fully open position, then back to the fully closed position
and then stop.

So I thought it might be a good idea to copy it here for future reference.

Thanks to SpartanX from 2007.

Thank you spartanX from 07 and good call norri!
This might explain what happened in a service bulletin here in the S section

So you're suggesting that it could have been operator error??
It's possible that you may be right.

Hey, I've been diagnosing a sunroof issue. The two pieces that drive the sunroof (one on each side) have gotten out of sync, one is more forward than the other. One must have slipped on it gears or however it's driven, but anyway, will this reset sync them back together or is something required mechanically to get them back together?

Thanks!

Been having trouble with my sunroof, auto open will cause the sunroof to move back about 3/4 of the way open and stop. I can then use the open button repeatedly to inch the sunroof back to fully open. Closing from full open workd just fine and tilt works great.

I have tried this reset procedure and the one found in the "How to guides" and neither one resets the sunroof. I do not get the sunroof to perform the reset procedure mentioned ie "The roof panel will travel automatically
to the fully open position, then back to the fully closed position
and then stop." This never occurs.

Can anyone help?
