Default Sunroof having issues...

I've been globally opening the windows...Then I closes them and 20% of the time, the sunroof doens't close. I hit the sunroof button and it closes fine, until today. Today it closed a little slowly but hitting button, but the open button is not working. Any ideas before I take it to the dealer?

If it's just mechanical, and it's getting stuck, the tracks might just need some grease. If it's electrical, going to probably be the motor. Sometimes in sunroofs, the assembly-line soldering of the wires to the motor is not highest quality and can be remedied with a $9 soldering iron from RadioShack.

If the rubber weather seal is sticking and not allowing the roof to open, I've uses graphite powder in the past with great success. Gotta be careful of what you use to lubricate the seal...not all petroleum based lubes make nice with the rubber compound.

Warranty expired? That'd be my first line of defense!

Here's the issue...The forward hold button is the only thing that works. The the forward auto-button and both rear buttons (hold or auto) do nothing...You can open, close or tilt the sunroof with the one button that works. However you have to stop holding the button at just the right time to ensure it's closed and not open a crack where it can let in water. So the motor again can open and close it, seems it's electrical...

I will try and "help" it with my hand...

try recalibrating it by just holding forward until it closes then opens then till it stops then see if it works properly

Please clarify...

This is how the "cycle" works using the only button that works...When 100% open, hold button, will fully close and immediately go from closed position to tilt and will stop at full tilt, once at full tilt it stops. Press the same button, it closes full tilt and goes straight to full open. To ensure it's closed I need to stop it right at the sweet spot...

just hold forward button for like a minute... then check .. if not the sunroof motor maybe out off sync.... or try a hard reset diconnect negative terminal and touch and hold on the positive...for a minute or two.

if that does not work you might have to lower head liner and check that the two white dots are linned up in the module.. when the sunroof is closed.

I would of assumed that would short out everything in the car, have both the neg and pos wires on the pos side of the battery.

Man, I disconnected my stock radio to put in my navi, and two months later I needed to put the stock unit back in and the factory presets were still there. I don't think it's even possible to undo them. Then again, this might be the one thing that does it in.

Did the hard reset, didn't work. You do retain the radio station and memory seats. I had to change the degrees from C to F. So how do I take off the headliner? Pull off plastic on the pillars and unscrew the sunroof/garage opener pod?

remove the a piller trim.. and then unscrew the sunvisors... then rear pillar covers then all the handles.. two screws per handle.. then pull upper console straight down gently.. then the fabric is the only thing held in.. then pull, only velcro holding the liner in.. then like 8 -10 8mm bolts and 4 drain tubes.. be carefull with module very delicate and very brital plastic..

My auto window up feature did not work the first three times I started up the car. I was really mad then it started working again, hoping that's normal after a hard reset. Could you please give more details on lining up the white dots? Thanks!
