Arrow VIDEO: Top 10 problems with the Jaguar S-Type and how to fix them on the cheap

After 14 years of ownership, here's my take on the Top 10 problems with the Jaguar S-Type and how to fix them without breaking the bank. Hopefully this helps someone.

I decided to shoot this video in response to a recent video by WatchJrGo where he and his Jag mechanic Dana both incorrectly claim that the rear suspension bushings cannot be replaced without buying all new control arms. This is clearly bad info. I did this job. It can be done.

Disclaimer: Unlike WatchJrGo, my channel is not monetized. I get nothing out of it. It's a hobby.

Amazing video. I wonder if some of what you mentioned is more common in the V6 than the V8. Although I had my share of misfires and had to replace coils and spark plugs it was not because water getting under the hood. Valve cover gaskets also leak. Oil getting into spark plug wells was bigger issue in my experience. Would add valley hose leaking and knock sensors failing likely as a consequence in the V8 engine. Plastic parts in the cooling system have been replaced numerous times. Biggest offenders: thermostat housing and coolant reservoir.

Thermostat cover

You're right, the V6 and V8 engines are totally different beasts. Some of the problems I mentioned are specific to the V6 since that's the one I have first-hand experience with. I have not had any issues with valve covers leaking oil. I'm still on the original thermostat and coolant reservoir. Perhaps the V6 doesn't generate as much heat as the V8 and the plastic parts last longer. That said, I purchased a new, spare coolant reservoir from Amazon Warehouse when it was on sale for $5. I did have to replace one of the two knock sensors but that seemed like a random electrical failure and didn't make my "Top 10".
