Howdy Folks,

This may be answered in other posts but, to be honest, I was too lazy to do a detailed search. I apologise in advance for wasting peoples' time!

I need to lift the inlet manifold to replace the TB coolant hose. The Manual says I should remove one end of the EGR tube to enable the manifold to be lifted off. I look at the rusted state of the various studs/nuts and bolts at both ends of the EGR tube and reckon I have almost zero chance of undoing them without sheering at least one off.

Here is my question:
Given the hose connects under the extreme front of the manifold, and given the EGR tube is quite long and hence should be fairly forgiving - has anybody changed the hose by simply raising the manifold sufficiently at the front end to give access for the hose change-out?

 

And whilst in there, replace the water outlet/thermostat assembly as well if hasn't already been replaced.

 

Ah, the olde 'Water Rail'. I did change that a while ago and now, of course, am regretting I didn't change the hose while I was at it. It is easy to be wise in hindsight.
