2000 XJ8L turns over but won't start.....
You are back to square one: if I am reading this correctly, you had spark originally, but lots of codes and failure to keep running. Then you traded parts. Something was done wrong when you removed the 2000 ignition parts and replaced them with those from the 99. Most likely a missing ground? Or the 99 parts don't mesh with the ECU? Put the original parts back and see if you get a spark.
Did you have spark before you changed the camshaft position sensor? Lots of rabbit holes . . .

OK, no spark, and no power running to the crank position sensor. Trying to find the cause. Other than the wiring, is there a reason that jumps out at any of you? Battery is good & strong. Changing crank position sensor out now. Will keep posted.

Now have spark, but no glory yet. Do I need to do the oil in the cylinder treatment? Tested compression and all cylinders were good. Any thoughts? Thanks to all for your input and help. Mike
OK, just got her started, after doing the oil in the cylinder thing. Put the originial NGK plugs back in, and she started after doing the pedal to the floor for a minute or so. The thing is, she won't stay on without my pumping the pedal. Now am going to put the original coil packs back on. Thanks for the help! Getting there.
So you have to pedal her to keep going, that sounds like you need to chase a vacuum leak initially. The throttle body is where I would start, especially the one to the MAP. Vacuum is the easiest to trace and fix, it is also the cause of most codes. Then see about zeroing in on the other issues.

I agree that a major vacuum leak is likely.
BTW, I sure wish you had followed the diagnostic procedure in post #9 before you bought all of that stuff! You would have found the ground missing immediately.

Throttle body and the vacuum leak will be checked on tomorrow. Will keep you all posted. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks to all for your help.
