I do not have those problems with my new V1 and it has not failed to alert me of a police radar, that I have noticed so far.
Of course I know it will never protect me from instant-on or laser, but that is always the gamble.

Which BlendMount model do you have? My mirror style did not appear to be compatible on their part listing. I have a 16 R vert w/vision pack.

100% AGREE

And if you can afford a car like this, then why gamble with your driving freedoms.

I have the BV1-2017 for my 2016 with the vision pack, also. Perfect fit. My car is a lease so I am not going to spend big bucks to install anything that I cannot remove in 10 minutes.

I'm using Waze, and also like the idea of the crowd sourced aspect of Escort's "Escort Live".
Bell and Escort have decent inexpensive options. They will have more false positives than the more expensive models (that's really where the money is spent), but they pick up valid radar signals just as well as the expensive ones.

Question: Can the cops tell that you have radar/laser detectors? They are illegal here..
Lawrence.

The newer radar guns can detect if a car has a radar detector. Some radar detectors have a defense against that as well so read the fine print of what you are looking to purchase. I would suggest that if they are illegal, just don't bother. If you want to speed, take it to a track.

Perfect, thanks! Glad to hear I have options after all.

Next time you are in your car, would you mind taking a photo of the mount/detector installed in your car from the angle I posted and another from the driver's seat? Want to see how exactly the mount is positioned below the mirror and how much field of vision through windshield is obscured.

Appreciate any help you can provide with this!

Thanks, those photos are really helpful. Interesting that the mirror mount design is different between the coupe and convertible version...

Depends on what kind of driving you do. If it's mostly highway the Escort Redline is a good option. If you have K band in your area probably a Radenso Pro SE

Also check out what kind of detectors are being used in your locality... radardetector.net has great info on pretty much everything. I've been able to turn off bunch of stuff giving false positives.

Well after everyone's feedback and scouring through various radar forums I was directed to a gentlemen by the name of Tom who is the guru of radar detectors and he strongly recommends I go with the ALP Priority with 5 sensors (3 in front and 2 in rear) for laser since only Stinger and ALP have the technology to diffuse the Lidar Strong pulse guns also called Dragoneye, but he told me to wait for a radar detector that will be the best out on the market as far as protection and BSM filtering (instead if going with the Radenso HD+ atenna) so that's what I'm doing. The ALP should be here this week, but going to hold onto that until the radar comes out in June then my shop will put both items in at the same time. Thanks for everyone's assistance and recommendations on this subject.

So it sounds like you are waiting for some new or updated product that is suppose to be out in June. What product is that?

They are illegal here in Virginia too, and the cops do have equipment that can detect them (but not all of them - some are undetectable).

I've never owned one, but the penalty for getting caught with one in VA is just a fine and no points, so in theory it might be more advantageous to have one than not, depending on your 'driving style'. That said, it would have to be installed in such a way that it is not be visible, or the jig would be up pretty quick.

The stinger is ideal for this purpose. They have an option of using fiber optics for the laser jammers so there would be no visible jammer head at all just a tiny fiber mounted against the surface. The radar antenna is hidden behind the bumper. And there is a delete button on the controller which at a simple single press deletes the firmware, and turns the whole thing into receiver for emergency signals (e.g. amber alert, tornado warnings, etc.). So by the time the cop gets to your window, you would no longer have a device capable of receiving radar or jamming anything.

Except that by using the Stinger you are making a pretty big sacrifice in terms of ability to jam. It's a difficult tradeoff to make between looks vs effectiveness. :-/

Yes. I would go with ALP (which is what I have), but if you live in VA you probably don't have much of a choice.

Iron Mike,

It's a new radar which I'm assuming is in testing if set to be released in June. I told him I was recommended and considering the STiR + and the Radenso HD+ antenna and he said wait as this new system has one of the best K filters and together with the ALP will have the best systems so I'm taking his advice. The ALP system just arrived and will eagerly be waiting on the radar release. Until then I'm working on the stereo system.
