I only have the 10 spoke wheels and they are very much a PITA to keep clean. So is the black paint on the car. However when clean it looks great to me anyway.

When I bought the car just over a year ago I took my wife" just to look at it". Ended up buying it after some haggling on price.

Yesterday we stopped "just to look" at an XJS convertible we happened to pass.
It was not for sale.

Next to the XJ350 the XJS for me is one of the best looking cars.

Richard I live in Longwood FL, do you know anyone who has a 2004/7 XJ8 that has been well maintained and maybe looking to sell. I have a 2001 xk8.

Go see the gorgeous X350 black beauty in SPECTRE if you haven't already!

Personally I think X350 front end is cleaner whereas the X358 front end is somewhat hoity-toity.

Sorry to intrude, but park one next to a X300/X308 and the word slender won't quite work.

I do like the bottom grille opening on the X358 though.

Ive always liked the xjr when it came out....The x350 was hard to cling onto but it grew on me and I liked the refinement over the older body . I just don't dig the x358. To me it looks a bit lost. If only I had the 5.0 SC in my xjr...Id be set....

Phil in NW Arkansas, I immediately recognized the day-glo palm trees in your photo as the pre-owned car dealer on Highway 62 east of Rogers. I have occasionally seen a jag or two there. Is that your place?

Cheers!

Jon

My favorite look is X358 Daimler Super Eight's. It mixed of best from classic X350, as front chrome grill, rear short trunk chrome lid and new cleaner and less busy bumpers, no door moldings also. In my opinion pure X358 looks over-botax when you can clearly see the age ) Last Supereight is just right amount of "saturation" and lifting on my taste.

I like the grill and no leaper on the X358. But I don't like the side vents. I am a younger guy (mid 30s) so I prefer the youthful and more modern X358

I like both, I have owned both X350 and X358. The X350 is sleek and classy, the X358 is mean looking and sporty.

Reference to the Daimler, I am afraid to disagree, the Daimler X358 looks not right to me, the classic chrome grille and wheels do not go with the sporty bumpers and spoiler.

This:

Vs (better to my eyes):

All just my opinion, the X358 Daimler may grow on me in the flesh.

X350, no doubt.
358's fatty "under the line" bumpers are too much protruding and break the fine, thin, balanced and elegant design of the 350.
Easy to see on the two pics above

If it's XJR, the X358 looks nicer than X350, though the back bumper's size sometimes looks like it's not proportional to the boot size. I must say, this depends on the angle you're looking at it.

If other models (Portfolio etc) then X350 is for me better than X358. On X358, I like the front more than the back. The X350 front's lower bumper lip sometimes and oval fog lights irritate me.

If I could, I'd upgrade to a black or white X358 XJR.

Ugly render of X358 Daimler you used looks biased

Let's compare with this instead

Gorgeous edition I think

No bias here, as I have owned both x350 and x358 shapes.
Does look much better with the Sepangs & love the colour, but still think the fluted grille & rear plinth do not go with the sporty bumpers.

Beauty (is indeed) in the eye of the beholder! Let's agree on the following horses for course on XJ then:

There's:
1. Classic Elegance XJ - In which case, the Daimler X358 and all other chromeful X350 XJs renditions fall in this category.

2. Classic Sporty XJ - The de-chromed X350 XJR fits the bill.

3. Classic Racing XJ - The X358 XJ, like Jim's beauty, falls in this class.

Personally, I like the X358 as the dechromed classic sporty XJR better than the dechromed classic X350 XJR. But after seeing this aggressively looking racing X350 XJR, I'm now inclined to also change the colour combination of parts of my car's bonnet, roof and boot to look like the XJ in the attached image.

The beautiful racing and classic X350 XJR - a model for my cat's next paint job upgrade

Hi Seth, interested on what makes the X358 'racing', to me sporty saloon yes, racecar no. Just curious, thanks.

Here is mine (actually started life as a Platinum X350):
