Its just there to reduce intake air noise

Your options are
1. Fabricate a new pipe
2. Cut it off and add blanking plate
3. Repair the break
4. Replace the part

If you want to repair or cut off the silencer you need to plastic weld the part.

This is easy to do. First put superglue in the join/break then cover it in baking soda.
The baking soda causes the superglue to react going super hot for a fraction of a second effecting a plastic weld. It sets hard instantly and you can even file the results

Id recommend however you do a smoke test first to locate any and all sources of vac leaks. You can build one for next to nothing.
I posted details here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-leaks-117917/

Go old school? On my LS1 GTO, I just sprayed carb cleaner at various points on the intake. When the idle increases, voila, intake leak.

Here's something more in depth: Make vacuum leaks hiss-tory - Old Cars Weekly

Thanks, yup as i said smoke kit under construction, all that. Re #3 and 4, could the part be called something else? I am not able to find "silencer" in either the workshop manuals nor any auto parts stores.

Its the tube is all one piece

Part 2
Part no XR849472 - without chamber
Part No C2C24192 - with chamber

Part 3 XR849656 - Non S/C

Its a good idea to download a copy of JTIS (parts) JEPC (service)

So after going through all of the tubing in those areas, and satisfied that there aren't any leaks, I replaced the MAF sensor. Problem gone, and I've put several hundred miles and a few tanks on now

thanks all!

Did you replace it with a factory part or after-market? What brand, if after market?

If you find leak in this area, you may be able to heat weld it together to eliminate the leak. I had air leaks around one of the small flex tubing connectors and was able to tell when I detected a large amount of dust around the oring. Easy to repair that leak once I found it.

When my 06 SV8 had those codes (drove it 600 miles home from Houston, Tx that way) it was a disconnected EGR valve the car lot did not reconnect. Put it back on and the codes were gone.
