I dont recall recesses in the tornado mounting plate so Ill need to shave off the studs.

 

Polaris - No you shouldn't. If you look at the pic that Unhingd has posted in #4 you will see that they come with 5 holes AND 5 studs.
The wheel adapter holes fit onto existing studs and uses half nuts to be torqued correctly to spec. The studs on the adapter then are what the wheel mates too, job done.

I didn't have to shave my studs, assuming your wheels have small recesses in the back between the 5 holes there should be enough clearance with a 20mm spacer to allow for this, there is on mine anyway.
Maybe Unhingd can clarify how he got on with his and if this as necessary or not?

Correct.

It depends upon the OEM F-Type wheel. Gyrodynes do require 1-2mm of shaving, but there's about 3-4mm at the tip of the stud such that you don't risk compromising the threads if you are careful.

 

Tornado wheels also need 1-2 mm shaved with a 15mm spacer

Hmm. Who do I trust to do this shaving.

 

Any shop mechanic skilled in the use of an angle grinder and caliper gauge should be able to handle it with ease. Thread on a standard nut before grinding to protect the threads. I was able to do it with a grinding wheel chucked into a handheld drill, but that was overly tedious.

 

Yea I'd need to cut all 20.

Let me see a pic of your car showing your new stance so I can decide on spacer width.

I have a curious question, the answer to which is really none of my business, but I'm gonna ask anyway... you purchased a rather expensive, precision engineered sport car... yet it seems that in the vast majority of your purchase considerations, you are quite vocal about shaving a nickel here and a dime there off the price of accessories. You've even just recently started a thread looking for a contact for discount parts... You purchased cheap wheel spacers off of Ebay of all places, and created a dangerous condition on your vehicle. When presented with a safer alternative, your first question is: "will they still honor that price". As I recall, not too long ago you were concerned about the expense of a phone mount that sells for $20. I could dig up other examples if you like, but to my question: why did buy such a nice, expensive sports car if you are going to continually comment about prices and pinch pennies as you accessorize?

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one on these forums that finds this practice/line of reasoning rather disturbing...

 

I'm looking to do this mod but I just got off the phone with H&R and they said they don't list any spacers for the 2015 R. I also don't want the trouble of having to grind the bolts, so is there any other way to do this? Maybe not as wide as 15 & 20mm front and back?

 

Having seen Unhinged vehicle from behind for several hundred miles on the trip his spacers are definitely a wider stance than the 10mm ones. It is amazing the difference in aggressiveness from stock. My wife even commented how amazing it looks. Seriously considering that mod to mine. He also lowered the car which completed the look.

 

The 15mm adapters require bolt grinding, but the 20mm would not, since there would then be plenty of recess for the end of the stud. However, if you ever lower the car (and maybe further go to 305 tires), you are running the risk of tire/fender interference.
H&R does not always list all of the model permutations. If they have an adapter for any F-Type, it will fit any of the other F-Types.

 

No, 15mm/15mm. ...and there are at least a couple others who are on the forum from time to time with adapters.
