Where does everyone buy their tires? I need to replace the rears.

 

TireRack is the most reasonably priced national source, but the availability of the 295s is sporadic, and they virtually never have the 305s. For that I have a local performance and competition shop (also reasonably priced) that can get anything with an adequate lead time. My 305s took a bit over 4 months as the dealer had to "stand in line" for them. Even when I get tires from TireRack, I get them mounted at the same shop because I've had some real bad experiences with the franchises trying to mount low profile tires on wide alloy wheels.

 

Yes I've searched a few different places and you're right, TireRack is the most reasonably priced source. I guess I'll just go ahead and order from them. Thanx.

I know the OP stated that they've done their homework regarding diameter impacts... I'm considering increasing rear tire width, possibly height as well. Just thought I'd post this tire size calculator link that will shows resulting tire dimensions and impact on speedo calibration. Also, FWIW, I checked out an SVR at the dealer today. OEM rear tires on the SVR are 305/30/20 (PZero's still). I'm thinking 305/30/20 is the least risk option.

There is no risk with the sizes I'm running now..... Feels and drives great and looks far better then stock

 

I just went with the PSS tires as they performed so well on my XKR and many of the forum members have had the same experience.

This time I upped the rears to 305's, everything else the same.. I tried to take a meaningful picture, but they didn't turn out that great; they look better in person than in the pictures?

The tire stands out about a quarter inch from the rim; handles great though and looks good as it provides a wee bit wider stanch.

I think one of the pictures is upside down and I don't know how to right it... sorry about that.

But seriously - I love the extra width. Seems that PSS with 305 size is the upgrade to the rears once the P Zeros get hardened.

 

I have the 305s sitting in the garage waiting for the 295 PSSs to wear out, if that ever happens. (16k miles and too much life left).

 

If you've had the 295 PSS you already have experienced the improved handling over Pirelli's, and the 305's should be as good, but with a better look.

It would be interesting, but not practical for me, to have a side by side driving comparison of the two different sizes, to see if any difference in handling would become apparent on the road.

I would be highly doubtful regarding any discernable performance improvement of the 305 over the 295. I'm upgrading mostly for the look.

 

Does anyone have 305s with spacers? If so, what size spacers? Thx hopefully you have pics

 

I've been running PSS 305/30/20 on rear for over 10k miles now. PSS is a huge improvement over stock Pirrelis when it comes to ride quality & grip.

 

I feel that I should remind everyone that wider tires will make wheel spin worse. If you're doing it for the look, more power to you! But if you want more grip, get a taller tire and reduce air pressure.

 

Good advice for the drag strip. Not so much for the road track. The wider tires will result in larger lateral g-force.

I just mounted the 305/30-20 and have 15mm spacers and a 1.5 inch drop. Fit perfectly.
