Default 20" Rear Tire Thread - 295/35R20, 305/35R20, etc...

Has anyone run the above size tire on their F Type? I fully understand what comes with changing a tire diameter so let's not go down that road, please. I hate the look of the skinny profile rear tire, just as I hated the 285/30/20 on our old XKR 175. I changed the XKR to the 395/35/20 and it looked perfect.

So, had anyone run the 295/35/20 on the rear?

Thank you

Are you sure your put the right numbers? You talk about it being done big change, but that is pretty much stock.

30 profile is stock. 35 will result in 1" greater diameter. Softer ride, slight reduction in speedometer accuracy, still plenty of fender clearance.

Very slight change in acceleration (slower) - might not even be noticeable. A taller tire will change your effective final drive ratio.

My question really is will increasing the diameter of the rear tire 1" cause an issue with abs? Some cars will think there's an issue and put the car into limp mode. It didn't happen on my xkr but this is a completely different system.

Would like to run stock 255/35/20 in the front with 295/35/20 in the rear. Has anyone done this or know if it can be done?

Again, I'll fully aware on how it will impact the car.

305/35-20's

Looking to run in the rear of a coupe R ? IF you have I would love to hear about it. If you haven't and still would like to sound off on why it's good, bad or otherwise. Let me have it, its what I am here for. ;-) Thanks in advance for your knowledge and experience.

There are several threads running on the same topic so I am merging them all together.

What's this? How does it relate to the tread?

Guys, I just installed 245/40/20 and 295/35/20 on the car because I want a larger diameter tires. I hate the skinny side wall that's stock. There isn't any issues and I'm looking to lower the car and run spacers next.

Not a huge difference, but you do pickup 15mm of sidewall in the rear and about 10mm on the front.

Given the larger diameter tire, you probably should go with the more modest drop on the VelocityAP springs rather than the H&Rs.

That's what I'm thinking as well but I haven't decided.

What you're not thinking about and you might not know until you do it is what it may do to the 4 wheel drive system and or active handling. I know guys who did that with Lamborghini with disastrous results. If you have all wheel drive don't do it.

You can do it as long as you oversize (matching diameter) the front wheels as well.

But to have a thicker sidewalk like he wants and still retain a 20 inch rim the diameter must change our am I reading what he wants wrong.

Yes, you are correct and that was my point. He'll most likely have to go from a 35 aspect ratio to a 40 in front to ensure that the diameter of the front tire remains close to that of the new rear tire.

Hey guys, I went with a 245/40/20 and 295/35/20 and it looks great. I don't have any issues and it helped close the fender gap so I'm not going to lower it now. The side walls don't look too big and for my application it's a perfect choice.
