Got under the hood today. Took apart the thermostat, and was going to replace it. However the product offered by both pepboys and advance auto parts is wrong. So I'm hoping that wasn't the issue.

The leak seems to have been coming from a hose going down and towards the front, there was coolant all over it. I took it off and found the oring in it in pretty bad shape. So I'm going to replace that. However, the coolant in that hose was green, but the coolant in the resivour was orange, so I'm a bit confused there.

 

Perhaps you might want to get the correct thermostat and flush the cooling system.

The JLR part number for the 4.2 litre SC engine is AJ811788 and the seal to go with it is AJ83525.

The correct coolant is orange, meeting specification WSSM97B44.

 

Yeah, the dealer isn't open until monday sadly. The correct coolant is orange. It's orange in the resivour, however, it had a green tint in the hose. I'm not sure why, since htey share the same system. I wanted to make sure it wasn't just seeing things.
