I'd appreciate that too. I've been thinking about the same modification because I'm worried that sunlight will damage the parts visible through the hood vents if I remove it. The cover is faded in those spots already.

Well. I've had he engine cover off my V8s for about 10 months. While getting it prepped for the winter slumber noticed the stain/burn? mark in these pictures. It's dry to the touch and does not come off with detail cleaner. The little orange dots did however come off but the larger (about the size of a quarter) does not. Can't tell if it's heat damage to the paint or other. The car is bedded for the winter so I'll have the dealer look at it during the spring oil change and service but wanted to see if any of you had ideas what it might be? This placement is in the more forward part of the engine closer to the radiator but not all the way there.

Engine heat damage?

General area under the mark

The dot at the top was removable.

I thought about that and you could be right. Might have had a slight overheat one day after sprited driving and perhaps some of it baked on.

The underside of the hood has not been buffed out and I don't think it has been clear coated. That surface is quite porous and subject to "staining" and a detailer will have little effect. Try using a car polish instead.

I just realized I forgot to upload photos of my modified engine cover. I just popped it off the car today to paint it satin black, but I got lazy and didn't get around to it, but here is the engine cover as it is.

Sorry the cover is dirty, got some spots on it. Will give it a good cleaning and wet sanding before I spray paint it satin black.

Indeed. That cover is different than mine. It looks like it is the same size and shape, but mine does not have the big hole and proclaims superchargedness on both sides, so that it's visible through the hood vents. Those same vents let in sunlight which has already faded the cover a bit.

I was under the impression that XKR & XFR & XJR covers have SUPERCHARGED written on them, & the F-Type ones only have JAGUAR on then?

Maybe the Late 2016 AWD R models come with this cover? Since my car is AWD the vents are spaced further apart, so it would be impossible for the "supercharger" logo to be visible via the vents. Actually the vents sit slightly to the sides of the two open notches on the cover, to allow the air from the vents to go into the cover. It appears Jaguar realized heat was getting trapped under the cover and introduced a better design to allow air in.

My MY2015 V6S has little "supercharged" bits on the outer edges of the engine cover, and it looks a lot different to the pic above of a 2016 R cover.

Nice work Z. Looks really good!

My v8s cover looks just like unhingeds v6s cover. Almost the same wood floor too!

That cover looks so big! It looks easily to be an 2lbs over mine. The modification I did reduced the weight of mine even further by 1.29 lbs.

that is super clever with the mesh, but i'm still hesitant to run without an engine cover without some kind of heat shield on the underside of the hood like the SVR

the oe engine cover has a pretty dense foam underlay, that could be for heat absorption or nvh or both
