So I opened up the ski slope Sunday and replaced the bulb in the fiber optic illumination unit. Lights! Buttons! And I can see them at night! Unless the moon comes out. Better, but no joy.
I know there's some led bulb out there that's a plug and play replacement but there's nothing in stock nearby that works.
So I got creative. I found a neat piece of kit at the auto zone store. It's some new led thingy for replacing your dome lights. Too bright to look at directly! But it's a square about an inch per side. Hmm... I do have that opticell reflector from the XJ6 that was melted on the back when the PO put in a high watt incandescent bulb.
A hacksaw, JBWeld and ta-da a really high intensity low heat opticell replacement bulb!
No permanantly changes since I had the spare reflector android don't have to cut the wiring.
Here's pics... more tonight after dark.
Domelitz LiteBlast XL
Every package is a demo unit! 3 free 9v batteries and a micro switch!
Hitting the test button in full direct sun. Dang!
Cut the old melted opticell reflector off about half an inch long.
This sold me! Mulitiple adapters to suit the bulb you're replacing! Remember this is meant to replace dome lights.
Here it is assembled and epoxied.
Reflector view from the distance of the optical fibers ends.
