2014 Vert. Tried to get it fixed at a Fort Worth Dealer. They said that this is within tolerance. I sent pictures to the Plano, TX dealer, they said it is only covered for the first 12 months.
Spoke to a couple body shops and they do not want to touch it.
Any suggestions? Should I just start pulling on it on a hot day to get it back in shape?

 

First, make sure that the hood was closed properly. If you slam it down from the side, it will latch crooked (though I don't think your picture is what it looks like.) Two techniques:

1. From the side, reach out with your hand so it's in the middle of the hood, and slam it from there.
2. From the front, lean over the bumper, and slam the hood down from the middle.

Easy to try to be sure that's not the issue.

 

I did have my hood look crooked once, so I popped it, and closed it by standing from the front and pushing on the hood vents. Then it closed right.

 

There should be a TSB on that. I had mine adjusted a month ago without argument...

As far as closing it properly. This is not the cause of this alignment issue. Thank you, though.

 

I've noticed mine isn't the best of fitment as well. I always try to reach towards the middle but from the side of the car. From now on I'll try from the front per the video. Thanks for sharing that stmcknig!

 

Frustrating, you're over there, and I'm over here...I could have that aligned in about half an hour tops, free!


It's obviously not within spec, we can all see that. The dealer doesn't want the job - period.
Neither do the bodyshops because they are wary of working with Ally, which is a wonderful metal to work with.



Have they tried fixing it and this is the result, or the before result?

 

You could try calling or emailing Jaguar Corp and mention your issue and the TSB and asking why the dealer won't resolve it ;-)

 

This is before anything has been done. It has gotten progressively worse over the past 2 years. And warranty is up in 5k miles.

 

You can DIY, but as it's under warranty you should take advantage of that.


It's a warranty item that must be dealt with by a dealer.


Compare it to another car at the dealership, or take some photos from the internet as backup.


If you don't have any luck, try another dealer, if not write to Jaguar Customer Relations.


The longer it is left 'as is' the more likely it is that the surfaces will be damaged that are touching. good luck!

 

What is the 12 month coverage; another thread mentioned wear and tear items as I recall?

 

The adjustment period is 1 year or 12,500 miles. Its in the owners manual:

 

A hood misalignment is a service adjustment? I call BS to that dealer.

 

A body panel alignment is a part of the bumper to bumper warranty, and not a wear item.

 

Is it the hood or the front bumper that's needing adjustment? I had two bolts drop out on one side and noticed because the headlight was jiggling.

 

I just reinstalled those 2 bolts on the drivers side today. The only reason they didn't completely go missing were the rubber plugs that provide access through the inner fender. My bumper looked just like telecom's before I bolted it back down again.

 

One stayed captive, the other was lost. I had the dealer order it, told them I shouldn't pay for it (they agreed), and installed it myself.

 

Unfortunately that is incorrect. The adjustment period covers wear items and any items that may need to be adjusted during that time. If you manage to get a dealer that will adjust panels; they are absorbing the cost for the sake of customer satisfaction or got an exception to be made.
