While searching the XJ8 section on eBay the other week I came across these Alloy Dashboard Rings.
£11.00 +pp,look quite smart I thought but carried on looking at other stuff, came across some more for £30.00 from someone in Poland and then some at £60.00 from U.K. so went back and bought the ones for £11.00.
Anyway I was expecting loose rings to come in the post but they were still attached to the veneer.
Removed rings carefully and cleaned them up(ie removed old glue)and then set about glueing them on mine.
They are not flat and I found by turning them in the hole you can see when they have lined up and fit flush
Used a two part epoxy type glue and then once dry and stuck(next day)used thinners very carfully to remove glue that had found it's way onto the veneer and rings.
Before
And After
I think it makes all the difference to that part of the dash.
Does anyone know if they were fitted as an option and if so which model,I was thinking might be XK8 or perhaps they are just aftermarket "bling".
But I like them anyway.
Now I'm left with the veneer,it's a bit damaged on the corners and where the rings were, can't see anyone wanting it,dare say I'll find a use for it(cup holder for the shed )
Take Care.
Andy
That was a great deal, looking good!
I have the same 6 pc set as KC, but on my dark VDP wood.
After several years, can still appreciate this little aftermarket add-on.
I was asked by several members over the last week where I bought my rings for my XJ8.
It seems the email address I supplied is no longer working, so here is the eBay site from the supplier I bought from several years ago.
Don't see the XJ8 rings, but I guess just contact him.
One note: when I received my rings they looked not as shiny as I expected, but a quick polish before installing solved that ever since.
