Default Alternative front seats for S type?

In pursuit of originality I put original seats in my S Type to replace the XJ6 ones, but they are not very comfortable. So as an alternative to re-fitting the XJ6 ones, which have limited adjustment so would end up on mountings to suit my tall frame, I wonder if seats from a modern S Type would fit. Or if anyone has fitted seats from another make to positive effect. Another obvious Jag option would be XJ40 seats but these are less readily available these days.

I just had seats from a 2003 X-type installed. Plenty of forward and aft travel. Also had a toggle switch installed to operate the electric seat back.

I used a Vadan Plas as I wanted the wooden picnic trays to give it that cool look. You do need some minor metal mods on the mounting but not that hard nor expensive if you have a shop do it either.

Definitely the stock seats are very uncomfortable and my car being so fast it would be a dangerous ride without modern seats.

They look great in red. Do they have height adjustment and how did you adapt the mountings?

My seats were made from around 2001 to 2003 XJ V8 Vaden Plas The back seats are 1 foot longer but you can have an upholstery shop section it to enable it to fit.

No, they do not have height adjustment although they are lower as my legs no longer hit the original 17" steering wheel when getting in and out.

My indie did the refit while I was out of town so I really can't comment on the mountings. The cost of the job ($AUD2000) included the new seats, removing the bolster airbags, colour matching, installation and an Australian Compliance Certificate which makes everything legal should I wish to sell the car many years from now.

The seats are like brand new. They came out of a 2003 X-type (53000km/33000 miles) that had sustained a front end impact and the insurance company had written it off due to the airbags being deployed.

Original seats...
