Default Different types of S type seat?

Hope someone can clear this up. The blue seat is per my S Type, but the red seat which supposedly also came from an S has a shallower squab and the recline mechanism is further forward with the lever pointing rearwards.

I think the red one is out of a 420, same upholstery as the S type, but a different frame.

also I think the blue one has the incorrect handle on it, it should be facing to the rear like in the red one.

go to the Jaguar S type Register forum, and ask there, there are over 500 registered members from all over the world.

looks the same as my 1965 built in 1964, and the recliner handle is towards the rear like in mine.

it is easy to invert the recliner handles in the S type, all you do is put the wrong one on the wrong side.

Hi there,

For what its worth, I've attached a picture of the "recliner" handle from my 1965 S type.

Can anyone identify the blue seat above? Is it 420 or did later S Types have these?

it could be from a MK-X, or 420-G, the large submarines made by Jaguar at the same time the S type and 420 were being msade.

The Mk10/420G seat had a wider outer section like this:

.... given the Mk10 preceded the 420 the latter was probably a narrower version of this ... but there must be a definitive guide somewhere!

the the only remaining guess is that the blue one is the Optional recliner seat for the MK-2.
