Hello,
so at the end after 1 year of being on this site I finally went for a jag but for a xj6 III not an Xj40 as my username says.
Here is some pics. It has only 70000mi.
I have a few issues with her but I will post different threads for every problem later.

Yeah you are right.
But unfortunately I have no garage. Right now it is on the street with a professional grade 7 layer cover on her. Soon I will move her to a friend driveway but still this is not a garage. I don't have one...

Yeah, despite my DIY tendency, a hundred bucks for a decent detail is worth it. I'm more than a bit surprised that he seller did not do so to get more $'s.

Congrats on the car! Looks good and I like the color. I don't have any of my cars currently in the garage, gotta empty it out. After you get the car waxed and detailed using the cover will make keep it quite a bit cleaner. I also use a car duster before and after covering it. It makes quite a difference. Enjoy the ride.

 

My Jaguar enjoys the limited garage space here. But a real bath is log over due. The drought thing. Too much for my California duster now. But, I the past, it did the job nicely.


My venerable old Jeep got the much needed bath. It lives in the open drive. Some respite fro tree shade. Much better. After 23 years it not only runs well, but is tight and shiny.

Actually here in the Netherlands, the leaping panther figurine was a stock option back in the days. Mine came with one, so it remained....

 

Interesting detail The frame on the number plate. Note the "leaper".

I'd prefer the classic Green British color, maybe I'll repaint it someday if I will bring her to Europe.

 

don't forget the wheels, those are so un-Jaguar. They are called Kent wheels. As in:

"Jaguer Kent Get Any Nicer Wheels??"

 

Mine got XJS sourced lattice wheels. I like 'em.


Not that my old Kents were ugly! Still around here, somewhere?

Well just an update. I got the following things fixed:
* the rattle noise were the timing chains which needed to be adjusted/tensioned.
* coolant expansion tank leaking, mechanic fixed it putting a metal rivet and new screws
* new brake pads (front and rear), new front rotors
* new front shocks
new oil and filter
* new fuel filter

everything for $2000 included labor

this is the most reputable and cheap mechanic I found so far.

 

I upgraded my XJ40 years ago with the lattice wheels. Looks nice but cursed them everytime I washed the car. Spent more time on the wheels than the rest of the car. Give me a 5 spoke wheel anytime.
