Default Exhaust advice XJR, Considering Mina

Hi all,

I am looking to replace my exhaust. I have a relatively mint car, I'm not worried about performance upgrades and do not want a loud car. However I would like to improve the system without hurting my vehicles performance, ecu mapping, the engine, or cause any negative outcomes. I am considering the mina gallery exhaust. Any feedback on that system or other high quality products. The system I have now spent it's first few years in the salt an snow of Michigan and if like to put a system in without rust.
Thanks y'all

My Mina has "booming" resonance at 2000 rpm. I would recommend QuickSilver (UK). Also, you might investigate a "6%" SuperCharger pulley upgrade. It's the one that does NOT require any "fuss." Remove and replace, Voila! If (I am guessing here) the 6% applies to h.p. increase, that's about 22 h.p. (370 x 0.06 = 22.2)

I don's mind a little "boom", the quick silver is a little pricey but I might consider it. What is the advantage of the QuickSilver over the Mina? As for the pulley, will I have to retune the car if I add a pulley, can it harm my engine? I am not very mechanically savvy. Where would I purchase the pulley?

On the pulley, the 6% is the rotation speed difference of the supercharger. No retune needed. The big difference is that the boost will come on a little sooner. From what I've read it doesn't do much to increase peak hp since the supercharger is setup close to its limits anyway.

For performance gains I'd search the forms for improved intake tubing mods, since those seemed to provide measurable improvement.

I replaced the rear muffler sections with resonators that I had on hand and some Magnaflow tips. I originally did this because of a leaky left muffler, however the appearance and aggressive note under acceleration without any droning or sounding like a muscle car has left me more than satisfied. I have an XJ8 but our cars are strikingly similar looking.

I am still looking for the pics of when I built the but I have no idea where they are. I used the stock pipes, welded on the resonators, welded on an extension, and then clamped on the tips.

Do you have the part number of the tips ? Mine is the X300 with the inline 6 and will possibly be a different setup forward from the tips with respect to the tubing diameter and the Mina vs. Quicksilver manufacturers differences .

If non XJR then the diameter is the same... My silencers are for a 3.2l non SC I6.

I vote for Probesports method. I went with the Mina option, they make a terrific product, but if I could do it over Id do a resonator delete followed by some mildly aggressive mufflers and put the money Id save into other repairs. I do love Mina's supercharger and intake package however, money well spent.

I can't find my original pics from when I did this a few years ago but here's a shot from underneath. Excuse the dirtiness, its been rainy here. Looks like I need to touch up the paint on the pipes as well.

I frequently think about the exhaust system on the X308, it really is a shame Jaguar created a great V8 engine then went to great efforts to mute it to sound almost like a 4 cylinder engine. I would like to release some sound from mine however, I've mentioned this in other similar posts to this.

However, here in Britain USA style "Exhaust Shops" or "Muffler Shops" are not commonplace. If someone requires a new exhaust they would normally go to a "Fast Fit" centre where a pattern part exhaust can be fitted quick and easy. For the more bespoke systems you have to go to specialist places, who know they are special and charge specialist prices.

I would like to remove the centre box and replace with an X Pipe and see what that gives me. I have found a place online who will make me any exhaust part I want at very reasonable prices, all they ask for is accurate measurements.

So does anyone happen to have a centre box lying round they could accurately measure end to end, and width? Also most importantly is the distance between the two pipes. Having this done means I can replace the box myself on the ramp in a neat fashion.

Thanks. S.
