I finally gave up and slipped an OEM tire and rim in the spare well.
Now the cover fits flat on the floor, and if there's a need for it, the Kent wheel, so Ugly among the Chromed Teardrops, simply Screams, "FIX ME NOW!!"
I wouldn't even want to think of the shipping from UK to California for something as bulky as a donut spare.

Jose is correct, the XJ40 wheels are one inch wider (why I do not have traction problems) and do not fit as a spare... so like Lnrb, I just used stock sized wheel and tire as a spare.
I did investigate a "donut spare" but decided against them... had the stock tire already. But did use the space saver donut ring on top of the spare to hold needed stuff.

I've been looking for a space saver "donut" for my '84 XJ6. My car has a fuel cell in the spare wheel well (the saddle tanks are bypassed) so carrying a full size spare in the trunk takes up a lot of the room.
After researching, it seems the XK8 models in the 2000 to 2006 range are one of the few Jaguar options that have the same 5 x 4.75" (120.65"mm) PCD and that also came with a space saver spare. There a few available locally for cheap.
The space saver wheels/tires from those cars are 135/80R18, offset of 33, approximate total diameter is 26.5". I have starfish wheels on my car, 6.5J x 15 with 28.5 offset, 225/60R15 tires, approximate diameter of 25.6".
Do you think that should work as a temporary spare? I prefer not to use fix a flat for emergencies. My spare needs a new tire so I'm thinking about going with this option instead.
